Les Petits Gris is made up of brother and sister in law team Damien McNamara and Kim Wood. Damien started his chefing career at Ballymaloe House, County Cork where he met his wife Pip, Kim’s sister. Having worked his way up through the kitchen at Ballymaloe he moved to The Mustard Seed, County Limerick as Sous Chef.
In 2012 they made the decision to move to Ludlow; Pip’s family home. Kim has been based locally for most of her career, but has also worked in Cambridge and London. Kim started her career in Reception management at The Elms Hotel, Abberley before moving into Event Management mainly specialising in weddings. Damien and Kim first worked together at Fishmore Hall, Ludlow (3AA rosette, 3 red star) as the hotel’s sous chef and events manager before moving onto the new restaurant at Ludlow Food Centre. It was here over a busy lunch shift that Kim suggested they do a pop up restaurant, Damien mulled it over for a couple of days and said yes. Both Damien and Kim are really foodies at heart and both love eating out whenever possible, Damien has always wanted his own restaurant under the name Les Petits Gris meaning The Little Grey (a type of mushroom!) Planning started straight away where all good planning starts….in the pub….well Wine Bar over a glass of wine! Currently Damien is head chef of the Restaurant and production kitchens at Ludlow Food Centre and Kim is back working in events.
Their first event took place on Tuesday 29th October 2013 at Bakers of Tower Street, it was a great night and has encouraged Damien and Kim on to offer bigger and better nights! So come and join us….the future is looking LPG!
